Winchester, VA – January 9, 2025: The Winchester Regional Airport Authority is proud to announce a public art program in collaboration with the Shenandoah Arts Council, Inc. (d/b/a “ShenArts”). The new program will allow local artists the opportunity to showcase their work in the new airport terminal over a three-year period. Art displays will be managed entirely by ShenArts and rotate every 4-6 weeks. Artwork will also be available for sale by scanning a QR code and remitting payment directly to ShenArts.
“This public art program is similar to what you might see traveling through a larger airport,” said Executive Director Nick Sabo. “And its purpose is the same; to make visitors feel connected to the space they are in.” The first installation contains four pieces on the second-floor observation area in the new terminal building and will be open to the public once the new facility is operational in late January 2025. “We are thrilled to promote local artwork in this beautiful new terminal,” said ShenArts Executive Director Lisa Fisher. “The airport’s vision for community engagement made this a natural collaboration.”
